20-Series Anhydrous Ammonia Fertilizer Applicators

The Blu-Jet lineup of anhydrous ammonia (NH3) fertilizer applicators features the widest range of sizes and more options so you can customize to fit your operation’s needs. Models 6120, 5120 and 4120 area available with a pull-type frame and model 3120 is available with a 3-point mounted toolbar design. Sizes range from 25-row with 30” spacing down to 11-row with 30” spacing, depending on model. Every applicator features the field proven Blu-Jet NH3 row unit with lead coulter, edgebent shank with knives and tool-free adjustable sealers. The 20-Series anhydrous ammonia applicator comes standard from the factory with a complete NH3 distribution system that includes a Vortex cooler, Ag Leader ISOBUS rate controller, 2-section plumbing and rear nurse tank hitch connection. The Blu-Jet lineup of anhydrous ammonia applicators can fit any operation’s needs, whether it be a high-rate, high-acreage user, custom applicator, smaller farm looking for an economical machine, or a 3-point mounted toolbar for great maneuverability.

Frame

Toolbar

  • Toolbar sizes vary depending on model, with the model 6120 ranging from 62.5’ down to 45’, model 5120 ranging from 52.5’ down to 30’ and models 4120 and 3120 ranging from 42.5’ down to 27.5’.
  • Row spacings of 30” or 20” are available depending on toolbar width and model.
  • Models 6120 and 5120 feature 54” toolbar rank for maximum residue flow while models 4120 and 3120 feature 38” of toolbar rank.
  • Models 6120 and 5120 utilize a heavy-duty 6”x6” mainframe with a constant level design to maintain even depth and precise application over uneven terrain.
    • 3/8” thick wall tubing on the mainframe and wings.
    • Model 6120 has wing flex from 15° up to 9° down on the primary wing and 6° up and 9° down on the secondary wing to follow ground contours.
    • Model 5120 has wing flex from 15° up to 9° down on the primary wing to follow ground contours.
  • Models 4120 and 3120 features a 4”x6” mainframe while the 4120 has wing flex from 16° up to 11° down on the primary wing and model 3120 features 16° of wing flex up on the primary wing to follow ground contours.
    • 3/8” thick wall tubing on the rear mainframe and wings and ½” thick wall tubing on the front center section of the main frame.
  • Single-point manual depth control adjustment is standard on models 6120 and 5120 and features a convenient turnbuckle located at the tongue.
  • To accommodate larger toolbar sizes, model 6120 features a heavy-duty wing fold hinge for a long-lasting design and maximum durability.

Undercarriage & Hitch

  • Models 6120 (385/65 R22.5 tires) and 5120 (295/75 R22.5 tires) are standard with dual oscillating wheels and tires on the main frame for enhanced stability and control.
  • Model 4120 is standard with dual 11L-15 F-range tires on the main frame.
  • On the wing lift wheels, models 6120 and 5120 feature 295/75 R22.5 single tires on the inner wing, while model 6120 features 20.5-8x10 tires on the outer wing for added support in the field.
  • Model 4120 features single 11L-15 wing gauge wheel tires that are hydraulically controlled for added convenience.
  • The 3-point model 3120 features single 20.5x8-10 wing gauge wheel tires that are pin-adjustable for quick adjustment in the field.
  • Water tank and storage compartment combination for quick access to clean water and operator’s manual.
  • Standard transport chain (pull-type models), lighting kit and parking jack/stands ensuresafer transport and storage.
  • Models 6120 and 5120 feature a CAT 4 ball swivel and a clevis tractor hitch included as standard equipment.
  • Model 4120 features a CAT 3 single-tang tractor hitch on 11- to 15-row units and CAT 4 hitch on 17- and 18-row sizes.
  • The 3-point mounted model 3120 features a category 3N/3 three-point hitch design.

Injection

Coulter & Shank

  • The lead horizontal spring coulters feature 4-bolt hubs and 20” fluted blades to slice through residue and clear a path for the shank:
    • 1,500 lbs. of down force to slice through the toughest residue.
    • The lead coulter features 15° of side-to-side swivel in each direction for 30° of total travel to follow field contours and changing terrain.
  • 1 ¼” x 2” Edgebent Shank features an SCS (Spring Cushioned) twin-spring shank mounts with 300 lbs. of trip force for consistent working depth and obstruction flexibility.
  • The 3/4” knives feature a steel 3/8” tube for efficient NH3 application.

Sealers

  • Trailing tool-free adjustable sealers feature two notched blades that are angled to fill and seal the slot which prevents fertilizer loss:
    • Disc sealer arms operate independently from each other allowing for superior residue flow and continuous soil contact.
    • 17” of overall travel and 9” of vertical travel from working depth allows the sealers to climb over obstacles.
    • Adjustable blade position and pitch allow you to customize to match your soil profile.
    • Features a greaseless 1 ¼” plated pivot shaft with self-lubricating bushings.

NH3 Distribution

Plumbing & Cooler

  • Ag Leader ISOBUS rate controller allows the operator to utilize the virtual terminal in the tractor cab and comes with an auxiliary switch box for easy product control when viewing guidance information on the virtual terminal.
  • Standard 50 gallon per minute single stainless steel Raven cooler with 1.5” Single fast valve.
  • Standard 2-Section John Blue Impellicones with Raven section valves:
    • Depending on model, optional 3-, 4-, 5- or 6-section control is available for increased versatility.
    • Optional Continental A360 manifolds are available in-lieu of the standard John Blue Impellicones.
Telescoping Rear Nurse Tank Hitch

Nurse Tank Connection

  • Tool-free adjustable rear hitch features a telescoping design for easy nurse tank hookup:
    • This unique design allows the operator to telescope the tongue in during hookup so when the operator pulls away it automatically locks.  No need to back the applicator up to lock the hitch.
    • Single Super-Shooter III nurse tank connection with standard 1.25” plumbing features a splash guard and quick disconnect for easy operation.

Options

Undercarriage & Gauge Wheels

  • Model 6120 is available with dual 12.4 R38 R-1 tractor tires on the mainframe in-lieu of the standard dual 385/65 R22.5 tires to provide greater crop clearance.
  • Model 5120 can be ordered with single 380/85 R34 tractor tires in-lieu of the standard dual 295/75 R22.5 tires on 12- to 19-row sizes with 30” row spacing.
  • A walking tandem undercarriage and/or walking tandem wing gauge wheel assembly is available on the model 4120 with 11L-15 tires.
    • Available on 11- to 17-row sizes with 30” row spacing.
  • Models 6120 and 5120 can be ordered with 385/65 R22.5 inner wing gauge wheel tires in lieu-of the standard 295/75 R22.5 tires.
  • Model 4120 is available with single 320/70R-15 tires on the main frame and/or on the wing gauge wheels in-lieu of 11L-15 tires.

Row Unit Options

  • Optional 20” vertical tillage lead coulter blades in-lieu of standard 20” fluted blade for greater soil disturbance.
  • MaxPac shank mounts are available on models 6120, 5120 and 4120 in-lieu of the SCS (Spring Cushioned) shank mounts:
    • Ensures accurate depth in heavy soil types with rocks.
    • 1,250 lbs. of trip force and 10” of vertical travel from working depth.
  • Knife options in-lieu of the standard ¾” knives include a 1 ¾” Mole Knife, ¾” FreezelessKnives, 1 ¾” Freezeless Mole Knives or ¾” knives with sealers.
  • Sealer options include adjustable down pressure springs that can be added for tough soilsand/or 17” wavy blades in-lieu of the standard notched blades.
  • Models 6120 and 5120 can be ordered with floating row cleaners (requires the MaxPacshank mount) for clearing residue from the strip:
    • Available on 12-, 16-, 18- and 24-row sizes with 30” spacing depending on model.
  • A 12.75” diameter rolling basket attachment for models 6120 and 5120 is available with rubber-cushioned mounting system (requires the MaxPac shank mount):
    • Available on 12-, 16-, 18- and 24-row sizes with 30” spacing depending on model.
  • Models 4120 and 3120 can be equipped with a strip-till press wheel assembly in-lieu of the tool-free adjustable sealer (available on 11-, 13-, 15- and 17-row sizes with 30” spacing).
Optional Continental NH3 Cooler

Distribution Options

  • Model 6120 can be equipped with 3-, 4-, 5- or 6-section plumbing and model 5120 can be equipped with 3- or 4-section plumbing in-lieu of the standard 2-section.
    • All models can be ordered with Continental A360 manifolds in-lieu of the standard John Blue Impellicones.
  • Controller options include a Raven 450 rate controller, which requires dual flow control valves, in-lieu of the standard ISOBUS control.
  • For application rates up to 80 gallons per minute, the 6120 and 5120 can be ordered with a high-volume PWM boost pump (requires ISOBUS controller).
  • A single Continental cooler with up to 46 gallon per minute output or a dual Continental cooler (up to 70 gallons per minute) is available in-lieu of the standard cooler.
  • A low-volume 1” single (requires ISOBUS) or dual fast valve reduces output up to 30 gallons per minute.
  • 1.5” dual valves are available in-lieu of the single fast valve for use with ISOBUS rate controllers.

Nitrogen Stabilizer Kit

  • Models 6120 and 5120 can be equipped with a tongue-mounted nitrogen stabilizer direct injection system with a single 200-gallon tank and Raven direct injection pump that T’sinto the plumbing after the cooler (requires ISOBUS):
    • Preserves the fertilizer in the soil for a longer period of time.
    • Low volume pump delivers 1 to 40 oz/min.
    • High volume pump delivers 5 to 200 oz/min.
Dual SuperShooter III NH3 Connection Option

Nurse Tank Options

  • Optional double SuperShooter III with 1.25” plumbing in-lieu of single SuperShooter III for tending two nurse tanks is available.
    • The operator can pull two nurse tanks in the field while the center hitch permits towing of one nurse tank during road transport.
  • Optional 1.5” plumbing is available in-lieu of the standard 1.25” plumbing.
  • Supply hoses and end valve kits are available to provide a secure connection between the SuperShooter III and NH3 tank.
  • Models 6120, 5120 and 4120 can be ordered with a nurse tank pintle hitch option.

Other Options

  • Models 6120 and 5120 can be equipped with an optional implement height switch which is compatible with the Ag Leader ISOBUS controller:
    • This automatically shuts off the NH3 when the machine is raised out of the ground for increased safety and operator peace of mind.
  • Model 4120 is available with a narrow transport stagger bracket with mounting hardware(available on 11-, 13-, 15- and 17-row sizes).
  • 6120 is available with a CAT 5 ball swivel hitch with 3 mounting holes for adjusting heightand model 4120 is available with a CAT 4.
  • On model 4120, a CAT 4 hitch is optional on 11-, 12-, 13- and 15-row sizes.
  • Model 4120 can be equipped with a drop hitch extension assembly which lowers the overall hitch height by 4 3/8”.
